Zack and Malinda Folkers – Cherry Street Leather – ON HIATUS
Cherry Street Leather is a collaboration of the talents of the husband and wife team, Zack and Malinda Folkers. For the past 12 years we have each added our own perspective of style and design to create quality handcrafted leather items. Combining functionality with aesthetic appeal has been our continuing goal. We are both self taught and grew up in families that worked in various craft mediums. The main thing we have both learned from growing up in artistic families is to express our own individual style/perspective with our chose material – in our case that is leather.
Our studio is a small building next to our house. We hand cut our pieces according to our original designs, stich, lace, or rivet them together. Some leather is hand dyed, allowing us to play with colors. We make masks and roses out of vegetable dyed leather that is hand shaped and molded, so that when dried the piece retains the shape we have created.
With our combined talents of artistry and craftsmanship we create one of a kind pieces that range from purses and masks to our unique leather roses.
